This week, million of Khmer people will celebrate Khmer New Year on April 14, 2006. In Cambodia, people will take 1 month off just to celebrate New year. But Khmer people in U.S.A. and oversea can have only 3 days to celebrate Khmer New Year.
My advice, please take this time to celebrate your heritage because it is very important to your family and yourself, so you can show other people about your identity.
Why your identity is very important to every human and every society, because it shows respect, admire, and courageous. If a person lose his or her identity, he or she would lose his or her heritage, respect, and courageous. Plus other people will look down at you.
Especially, Khmer people used to be one of the advance civilization in between 9th and
12th century. During that time, Khmer people was one of the super power in Southeast Asian civilization.
If you don't believe what I am saying, you should watch following DVD documentary below to find out the fact.
We would like to wish everyone a happy new year and prosperous life. This is the year of
2550 in Cambodian calendar, but in European calendar is 2006. You can see clearly, Asian
civilization is about 550 years older than European civilization.
